Directors:

Robert Garton Smith, LLB, B Com, GDipFinPlanning (Sec Inst), F Fin (Managing Director)
 


Robert Garton Smith is the Managing Director and owner of the Primary Group and has been its key person in relation to managed investments since inception.  He has degrees in law, commerce and financial planning and is a legal practitioner as well as being a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Australian Compliance Institute. Robert Garton Smith has worked in the area of managed investments since preparing Australia's first feature film prospectus in 1981. He has prepared and overseen dozens of managed investment schemes relating to film, forestry, viticulture, horticulture, manufacturing, equities and real estate, and also prepared share, debenture stock and unsecure notes issues. Robert Garton Smith has practiced law since 1970 and is admitted as a practitioner in Western Australia, the federal courts, New South Wales and in England and Wales. He remains the principal of the corporate and commercial law practice Garton Smith & Co, which now has small practice advising in relation to managed investments, corporate, real estate and intellectual property.   


Anthony Treadgold, B Com, CPA (Chairman) 


Anthony Treadgold began his career in professional accounting after completing his degree at the University of Western Australia, firstly with Deloittes and later with Arthur Andersen. He specialised in business start ups and work outs and moved to London and later Hong Kong. Anthony returned to Australia after 8 years overseas and joined the Bank of Boston to start up a new Merchant Bank operation in Perth. He developed expertise in tax effective financing and innovative financial solutions for business. 
 In recent years Anthony has developed vineyards in the south west of Western Australia and followed his love of wine into production of super premium wines on a modest commercial scale. Anthony is an executive director, being the analyst and financial controller of Primary Securities Ltd.  


Richard John Hurn, FRICS  


Richard Hurn has served in the property industry for more than four decades, and has been a company director for over thirty years. His scope of work  has encompassed Australia, UK, Continental Europe and USA, resulting in an extensive knowledge and wide experience of property investment, development, acquisition, disposal, leasing, administration and construction within the office, retail, industrial and residential sectors.  He created and directed his own companies active in the professional consultancy, investment and development areas in Australia and UK for some twenty years.
 In the UK he was Chief Executive of the Property Division of BAT Holdings, a subsidiary of BAT Industries, Britain’s fifth largest trans national corporation, held directorships with several salient retail companies, and other past employers included Royal Sun Alliance (Vero) and Hillier Parker (CBRE).Soon after emigrating  to Western Australia, he became a director of Bankwest subsidiary companies, and managed and developed the Bank’s property and land portfolio, and administered all facets of the Property Trust of WA. Richard is a chartered surveyor, licensed real estate agent and was until recently principal of Hurn Corporate Advisory, Property Consultants and Project Managers, also a Director of Arts Radio, the Community Radio Station RTR FM and is engaged in other voluntary community projects. In addition to being an executive director he is the Key Property Person of Primary Securities Ltd. 



Compliance Officer / Company Secretary:

Barbara Boyd, BA(Hons), FCIS
 

Barbara Boyd is Company Secretary of the companies comprising the Primary Group.  She became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (UK) in 1990 and has held various company secretarial positions including a listed company and  lecturing in Business Law and Company Secretarial Practice at Curtin University of Technology.
 


Complaints Officer/Property Officer:

Anna Catelli, B Juris, LLB, Dip Ed
 

Anna Catelli  was admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1981 and in addition to  her position as Complaints Officer for Primary Securities Ltd, Australian Growth Managers Limited and Primary Compass Ltd she is the Group Property Officer ensuring compliance with agricultural scheme registration requirements.
 

In House Legal Counsel:

Tony Wilson, LLB (Hons)

Tony Wilson was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1970. He was a Senior Tutor and Lecturer in Law, University of Western Australia, 1974-1980 (tenured), 1990-1994 (sessional), employed as Director of Continuing Legal Education at Parker & Parker in 1989 and in a variety of senior business development and internal legal consultancy roles following that firm's merger with Freehills until 2008, WA State Editor, Australian Property Law Bulletin (1994-2008).



Office Manager/ Law Clerk/ Custodial Officer:

Natasha Olsen
 

Natasha has an Advanced Certificate in Office Administration and Secretarial Studies obtained in 1998 at Olympia Business College.  She also has an accredited certificate from the Law Society of Western Australia following completion of a Legal Assistants Training Course. Natasha is currently studying a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Notre Dame University on a part time basis.
 


Accountant

Janette Anderson
 

Janette is an experienced accountant and deals with financials for the Primary group.  She has previously held accounting positions for various organisations particularly in relation to managed investment schemes over the last twelve years.

 

Administration Assistant

Sandy Fisher

Sandy has qualifications in Office Administration and has experience in a variety of office environments including Chartered Accountancy, Insurance broking and the health industry.
